CHP

Combined Heat and Power

CHP is a highly efficient process that captures and utilises the heat that is a by-product of the electricity generation process. The heat generated is supplied to a heat demand, that would otherwise be met by a conventional boiler.

CHP systems are highly efficient and make use of the heat, that would otherwise be wasted. Due to their ecological benefits CHP units are publicly supported in Germany and other countries.

With many years experience in the delivery, installation, operation and maintenance of CHP systems, Ecosmart Energy Systems have worked on many projects nationwide. We have proven our knowledge and expertise, and can help our commercial customers take advantage of significant financial and environmental benefits.

Combined heat and power (CHP) systems deliver maximum energy efficiency and low emissions through the cogeneration of usable heat and electricity in one single process. By generating heat and power simultaneously, CHP can reduce carbon emissions by up to 30% compared to the separate means of conventional generation via a boiler and power station. At these conventional power stations, ‘less than 40% of the energy input reaches the consumer as electricity, while more than 60% is lost as waste heat’ . This is why the idea of CHP, is to not waste the heat cogenerated, but to to make the best possible use of it.

CHP plants or systems are efficient, clean and economically produce electricity and heat, therefore they make a substantial contribution as a sustainable energy supply. By installing a cogeneration system, your property or business will become less dependent on conventional energy such as gas. It will improve business competitiveness by increasing energy efficiency and managing costs, and will help our climate change and environmental goals.

At Ecosmart Energy System we work in partnership with Sokratherm and Bosch. Sokratherm are Europe’s leading CHP unit provider, who have over 35 years’ experience developing CHP. Their CHP Units have the advantage of cutting the transportation losses from the energy equation and can therefore offer overall efficiency rates of above 90%, which is currently the best on the market.

Sokratherm CHP compact units are proven to be best choice for efficiency. Not only do they operate very safely, silently and with low emissions, but they come in a range of sizes, that can be tailored to suit a variety of applications such as hospitals, nursing homes and schools.

Bosch’s combination of a reciprocating engine and generator, optimised hydraulics and an intelligent control system, make their systems capable of delivering the energy efficiency needed to meet present and future requirements. Many are installed in light commercial properties, public buildings or as part of a district heating system.
